Meet Mandisa. 🙂 Mandisa is a gifted actress and vocalist and currently resides in Trinidad.
Home Country: Trinidad & Tobago.
Where I’ve Been: US mainland and Hawaii, UK (&) Wales, France, Spain, Japan, China, South Africa, Netherlands, Barbados, Martinique.
Unforgettable Travel Moment: Too many to name; I have moments from every visit! If I have to choose, I’d say basically everything that happened in South Africa, lol. At every gathering when singing started EVERYONE, regardless of age or station, would stand and start clapping and singing IN PERFECT HARMONY – and dancing with total freedom! At one concert these grannies started singing and dancing in the aisle and called me and a friend to join. Those grannies had us going down! My knees aren’t the best; I was trying to keep up! The musicality, freedom and authenticity of the South African people uplifts and humbles me. I would go back in a heartbeat!
Oh, and I became a Buddha while I was in Japan…it was pretty cool 😉
#1 Bucket List Destination: Cuba. The music and dance call to my spirit! Brazil and India are up there too, tho! 🙂
My Travel Essentials: I would say a camera but I always forget to take pictures! I don’t need much, just money and enough of the local language to get around!
What I have learnt while travelling: Beauty is relative and everywhere. When it comes to people, culture varies but core is constant. I love everybody everywhere.
The most difficult part of travelling is: Being a compulsive over-packer. Coming home…I assimilate quickly.
Travel tips for other Voyagers interested in budget world travel: Pick a destination, scour the internet for sweet low season packages, save and go! Find out if you have any old friends/classmates in the area for advice or free accommodations. Be open to hostels but go through reviews with a fine-tooth comb.
