VOYAGER SPOTLIGHT: KIMBERLY
| |KIMBERLY, 22 COUNTRIES, 4 CONTINENTS & COUNTING!
Meet Kimberly. 🙂 Kimberly is a talented and published poet currently residing in California.
Home Country: U.S
Where I’ve Been: Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Denmark, Germany, Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Turkey, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Japan, China, and the Netherlands.
Unforgettable Travel Moment: Not knowing the Japanese word for tampon in Okinawa was a problem. 🙂
#1 Bucket List Destination: Antarctica, to a bio-engineering lab, igloo hotel or weather station.
My Travel Essentials: A universal charger, Excedrin Migraine, tampons, a writing device, empty water bottle, toothbrush.
What I have learnt while travelling: Get lost as much as possible. Eat where the locals eat unless it’s China. Find a way to travel alone even when you travel with people. Don’t be afraid to kiss the German girl at the end of the bar. One way tickets are cheaper everywhere, including hearts. Borders are porous. Irish men like all women. Bridges go in opposite directions. Black folks see each other all over the world. Racism sees us too. Courtesy isn’t kindness. Everything including love has a cost. And airport security guards in Hong Kong are just plain aggressive.
The most difficult part of travelling is: The cost. And my progressive cultural politics are at odds with my stomach.
Travel tips for other Voyagers interested in budget world travel: Pack more than enough tampons. 😛
